DIY Exfoliating Charcoal Soap ~ Darby Smart

As you may know, I am in love with the craft subscription box "Darby Smart". Each month they send you a box full of supplies required for you to discover a new hobby. Each month is a different theme, and this month was charcoal soap. I believe this is the first beauty box that Darby Smart has made, so I was so excited to receive it an make it for you! You can purchase your own here: https://www.darbysmart.com/projects/mystery-diy-kit

This box includes:

1. 1 pound of white glycerin soap base

2. Activated charcoal powder

3. Organic orange essential oil

4. 4 natural loofah rounds

5. Reusable silicon mold

6. 4 sheets of wrapping paper and 4 label stickers

Step one: Chop up the soap base into small cubes to melt. You can melt the cubes over the stove, but I suggest using the microwave because it is much faster. Place the cubes in a microwave-safe bowl and melt for 30 seconds at a time, taking breaks to stir, until fully melted.

Step two: Once your soap is clump-free, Add the charcoal powder and orange essential oil. The amounts of these ingredients are up to you, but I just added the whole charcoal powder packet and about 20 drops of orange essential oil. Make sure you stir well to assure that all ingredients are fully combined. I suggest using a whisk for the best results.

Step three: Place your mold on a cutting board or cookies sheet for easy transport later. Put the loofah slices into the bottom of each mold and pour the liquid on top. They may want to rise to the top, which is fine but if you'd prefer them to be hidden, just push them back down.

Step four: Transfer the soap to the freezer and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. After they have solidified, take them out of the freezer and gently remove them from the molds.

Step five: Use the colored papers to wrap the soap and secure the ends with the sticker.

That's a wrap! I hope you enjoyed reading this tutorial, let me know if you purchased this box and what you think of it. Remember to subscribe for additional content about beauty, literature, DIY and more!
