Discover a New Hobby in your Mailbox!

I recently received a Darby Smart subscription box. If you haven't heard of this website, you're really missing out! They offer free tutorials for all different categories. For 19$ each month they'll send you a box full of items that you need to discover a new hobby. The money is well worth it because of the value and time put into developing each one. Past themes have been metal stamped jewelry, wood burned cutting board, ink blot coasters, and valentine treat toppers. For the month of November, the theme was Live, Love, Bake, and it includes supplies to make cookie gift sets.

I think this box would have been best for December, because it came with 2 boxes of organic cookie mix, 2 Christmas cookie cutters, and a set of three gift boxes.

I'm actually going to save the sugar cookie mix to give away as gifts, but I made the chocolate chip cookies today. The instructions said not to flatten the dough, so I didn't want to ruin the consistency by using the cookie cutters. I did make the cookies and I will put the tutorial below.

1) Whip up 6 tbsp of solid butter with an electric mixer.

2) Add 1 egg and the cookie mix box and whip until you have a thick dough.

3) Scoop 1 tbsp of cookie dough onto a parchment lined tray. Keep them at least 2" apart from each other. Do not flatten the dough. Put tray into a 375*F oven and bake for 11-15 minutes or until golden brown.

4) Remove they tray from the oven and cool for 15 minutes.

Chocolate chip cookie review: If you like to bake, this would be a quick way to make delicious cookies. The final result was really hard and crunchy, but my dad absolutely loved this, so it just depends on what you prefer. The box says to bake them for 11-15 minutes or until golden brown. I put on a timer for 10 minutes and they were already pretty dark. Just keep watching them bake and check the edges until you feel like they are ready. Again, the final product just depends on your personal preferences. A huge plus about this brand is that they are 100% organic. They do not add any artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, and this is really important if you want cookies from clean, ethically sourced ingredients. Also, anyone can make these cookies because they are so simple to put together and the result is a delicious, guilt-free snack.

Darby Smart box review: I love that this box encourages creativity through something you usually wouldn't try. The total value of this box was 20.95$ if you purchased the items separately. I really like that they included items that you could use to give the cookies as gifts. The three boxes are a flexible tin foil with a cardboard cover. There is 1 gingerbread man and 1 snowflake cookie cutter to use with the sugar cookies. This box would make a great gift for anyone who loves to bake, or just for yourself. You can still receive the baking box if you sign up now, because it's never too early to shop for Christmas gifts! If you want to get your first box FOR FREE, until Monday, you can click here and just pay for shipping. Let me know what you think of the box!
